Harriet Holme

Researcher & Writer, based in Cumbria

Like many people, I love a good story and I’m fortunate that in my freelance work I have so many fascinating tales at my fingertips. As a historical researcher, I collate myriad documents and publications to present a cohesive story for my clients, and as a writer, I get to construct them myself.

I offer a range of services including, but not limited to:

  • Genealogical research
  • House histories
  • Archival research
  • Family history tours
  • Itinerary planning
  • Document transcription
  • Copywriting and editing
  • Proofreading

Research Interests & Background

I have recently completed my MA in History at Lancaster University, having returned to academia as a mature student. My time here has only augmented my skills as a researcher and has provided me with the tools needed to take my work to a new level.

I enjoy projects focusing on the historic counties of Cumberland and Westmorland and I have easy access to all Cumbrian archive centres. My personal projects have focused on this geographic area too, and I am currently compiling a book exploring historic criminality in Cumberland.
